“Rei-ki” is Japanese for “Universal Energy.”
Albert Einstein and modern science agree: All things are composed of energy. Everything (even what we perceive as solid) is actually a condensation of vibration or frequency.
Reiki is classified as an energy medicine. It is not a religion. It is ethical and safe. Reiki works with and is compatible with all religions, faith, and beliefs. You don’t need to believe anything for it to work.
A Traditional Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Attunement is a way of connecting with the Source energy used in Reiki treatments to clear unhealthy energetic patterns. It empowers the receiver of the attunement to use Reiki energy for good and healing. Like tuning an instrument, a Traditional Usui Reiki Attunement is an attunement of your energetic body to healthier frequencies. Having healthier energy flow through your energy field amplifies your ability to manifest and create for the Higher Good (aka, in keeping with healthier frequencies). It even helps people to realize and generate abundance.
In the First Degree Traditional Usui Reiki Attunement (Reiki I), your energy field is opened to the flow of Universal Energy so that you can perform self-healing and the healing of others. A Traditional Usui Reiki Attunement is not your average Reiki attunement — it is extremely powerful.
Receiving an Attunement is like being handed a Key.
It will be up to you to carry it wisely. A manual cannot teach anyone how to use Reiki anymore than a manual can teach a musician to play beautifully. For these reasons, Erika remains available to her Reiki students for lifetime mentorship.
While Reiki is not a religion, attunements with Erika are often felt to be sacred experiences. There is a saying: “We are not afraid of being powerless; we are afraid of how powerful we are.” Accepting our power challenges us to be wise creators in the world. Are you ready to contribute to your soul’s maximum potential? If so, this might be for you.
Honoring the Tradition
Attunements with Erika are special in that they honor the principles set by the Reiki Alliance for Traditional Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki as well as the inspiring instruction of Erika’s own Reiki Master Teacher, Antonia (Santa Marie). Far from being limiting, the choice to carry on the tradition provides a solid, fertile earth on which each student’s understanding can blossom. During the instruction, Erika draws parallels to other healing traditions and ties in present day and individual experiences.
A Traditional Usui Reiki I Attunement requires 4-6 hours per day over 2 consecutive days. A traditional Usui Reiki I (First Degree) Attunement cannot be completed in one day. This means that neither can Reiki I and Reiki II Attunement be done in the same weekend. While there are places and persons who offer Reiki I in just one day, or Reiki I and II in the same weekend, it is important to realize that this acceleration is merely a reflection of our fast-food and on-demand society. To be frank, it is just simply not possible to administer the full Traditional Usui Reiki I Attunement in one day unless you shortcut or remove things from the original Tradition. Likewise, it is not possible to provide a full Usui Reiki Attunement to more than 4-5 persons at once.
Attunements with Erika are not abbreviated or auditorium affairs. Instead, Erika chooses to maintain the integrity of her powerful lineage, limiting each attunement to a maximum of 4 students for the classroom instruction portion of the weekend, leaving plenty of individual, private one-on-one time for the individual Attunement sessions. She also adds something unique: her own understanding of Reiki, weaving in the wisdom of Ancient Chinese texts, modern science, and many other spiritual, natural, and energetic traditions.
Becoming a Usui Reiki practitioner is not about more-more-more, or doing things fast and cheap. It is not about checking the block, collecting certificates, or gaining titles. It is about being present for a rich, illuminating, and powerfully transformative experience. If you seek healing, depth, and self-actualization, you have found a Reiki Teacher in a very powerful path to it.
Levels of Reiki Attunements
Reiki I: First Degree
Reiki I, or First Degree, in the Usui Tradition requires 6 hours per day for 2 consecutive days. The teaching and discussions are conducted in a small group of 3-4 students. Between the small group sessions, as per tradition, each student receives 4 completely private, one-on-one attunement sessions per person. The First degree Reiki Attunement begins the process of clearing dysfunctional patterns and empowers the receiver to use Source energy for healing of self and others. It also includes instruction on how to set powerful intentions, generate abundance, and heal relationships. At the conclusion of the second day, participants receive a beautiful, frame-worthy certificate in the Usui Shiki Ryoho System of Reiki Natural Healing.
Additional Training: Reiki II (Second Degree) and Usui Master Teacher
Reiki I is more than enough for most people. But some like to go deeper. Reiki II, or Second Degree, is said to amplify the power to connect with Source energy for Good and Healing by 300 times. Reiki Master is said to amplify it further by 10,000. At each level, the energy resonates through the body and energy field more profoundly, shifting things in different ways. According to Traditional Usui Reiki, you must complete your training with the same teacher. If you wish to switch to Erika from another teacher, you must redo Reiki First Degree with her. This is because there is simply no way for Erika to know what you were given in your First Degree Attunement, and it would be irresponsible for her to give you the Second Degree if you had not received the full First Degree. On the other hand, it will not hurt you to repeat a Usui Attunement — it will only help you.
As per Tradition, Reiki I practitioners must wait at least 6 months before pursuing a Reiki II attunement. Reiki II practitioners must wait at least a year before Reiki Master training. This is so that you can practice, adjust, and actually be ready for the next level of Reiki energy. Again, Usui Reiki is special and not for everyone. Not everyone likes this level of excellence. It is also up to Erika whom she wishes to share it with. While having the required funds is considered one gatekeeper to the Tradition, it is not the only guard. Erika may decline to share with anyone the first or next level of Reiki for any number of reasons until she knows it is right.
Attunements with Erika are powerful. You will walk away with something that becomes a part of you and will aid you for the rest of your life. It is something you can never lose, and that no one can ever take from you. Prospective Usui Reiki practitioners should view the cost of an Attunement as an investment in their own self. The investment is also an offering of partnership with the Divine, or Universal Light. It is a way of saying, “I wish to work with and for God, to be empowered as an agent for Good and Healing.”
Money is an expression of time and energy. It is a way to exchange value. Anything worth doing requires both time and energy, and with Reiki, like anything, you will only get what you are willing to put into it. After the Attunement, the more time you spend working with the energy, the stronger it will flow through you. It will be up to you to continue to cultivate your Reiki connection, to continue to invest in your own growth.
Prospective students should know that if this particular path is right for them, the money for an Attunement will be available to them and the cost should not cause any serious financial hardship.
However, there will probably be a bit of resistance around payment. The investment should feel like a bit of stretch — it should feel uncomfortable. Why? Because the investment represents depth of intention. It is a sign of readiness and commitment. It is also an acknowledgement of abundance, trust, and the understanding that we always have what we need to grow to the next level.
Ultimately, the financial piece is just one of several gatekeepers to the Tradition. If money is truly the only obstacle to your Attunement, there are other ways. But they will require just as much — if not more — of your time and energy. (Think of Mr. Miyagi and the Karate Kid.) If you do not have the resources to pay for your Attunement financially, you must come with a strong, unalterable willingness to earn it!
